I pledge allegiance... to myself!

Welcome Angel! Newest proudest doggy citizen of Saratoga Springs.
Angel successfully passed her Canine Good Citizen test last Thursday with Chelsea. Luckily we went into Benson's ahead of time to get treats so when it came to test item "walking in a crowd", our good friends at Benson's had a warning not to call Angel over for treats! She earned herself a collar tag, patch, and listing with the AKC.
So, step 1 of becoming a therapy dog is complete :)
Next step Angel (and possibly pal Pip!) will be joining a therapy class at Wesley Health Care Center. I'm looking forward to having better insight into animal assisted therapy.
Tonight we stopped in to see the residents at Home of the Good Sheppard for a visit. Everyone had a great time, and though there was a bit of heavy handed snuggling, Angel took it all in stride and made sure to visit with everyone. Angel may have a permanent bimonthly gig, we'll see!

This is our goal:
Can you picture Angel xtreme sheepherding??

Congratulations River!

River is now a successful graduate of 2nd grade, otherwise known as "beyond basics"! He has now completed more education than his mother, Angel, who only went to 1st grade otherwise known as "beginners". River is proud to be the first in his family to complete higher education.

It was a great class where he learned some more advanced doggy manners such as relax, park-it and heel. Fascinating! Who knew he could have that much self-control??? River wore his bow-tie for the occasion and is practicing for the wedding that he believes he will be in.
River, we'll talk about that.....you keep practicing your manners.....

Be on the lookout for Angel who will become a citizen soon. She will be sitting for her canine good citizen test in the next couple of weeks. Wish her luck!

pony express

The invites are out! I finally broke down and realized that no printer was going to allow me near it. Therefore I had to hire someone to press print for me. Luckily at our neighborhood Kinkos there is just such a man. Apparently this sort of thing happens often? He is very skilled at designing and printing on wedding paper. Also, I was happy because he said our invitations were the best he had seen :) He was also proud that we had not waited until the last possible minute. It seems there have been hectic brides appearing the day before the wedding to have programs, etc printed immediately. Uhh...we're supposed to have programs? I mean, totally we have that all figured out. See you sooN!
P.S. Although I would have paid a million dollars to have these delivered by actual pony express, or even just to have a pony around while it is being delivered...the postman informed me this is not possible. So, if you don't get them in a timely manner its his fault, not the pony.

Angel and River are bored of all this wedding talk.

ties to die for

I can't post a picture because we want these to be a pleasant surprise but I can't keep my excitement to myself! These ties are awesome. My very first purchase from Etsy is a total score. If you have any need for gorgeous interesting ties check out this site: http://www.cyberoptix.com/

Bethany helped us out with a custom order so no worries in accidentally seeing ours. I kind of want to sleep with them under my pillow. I'm resisting the urge.

blogowonder

So I decided to make a blog.
So there!

Our little family consists of 2 velociraptors in greyhound costumes, a bartender and a social worker. It works for us!

I will try to link some helpful information about our upcoming rocking wedding that you are dying to attend! Of course I will always be posting about our adventures in velociraptor keeping.

If you have forgotten, the wedding date is April 25th 2009 at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, NY. Starts at 5pm sharp! You should all be receiving your formal invitations soon. Would have been sooner but every printer I come across commits hari kari before I can get to it. We cannot wait to see you all!

If you are looking for information about Saratoga Springs in general, check out http://www.thesaratogalife.com/ . It's a website that was started by a Skidmore alumni just like Isaiah and I, so it must be good! There is great information about shops, restaurants and hotels. We could not block rooms unfortunately so you are on your own for booking rooms, however we would recommend the Gideon Putnam (where we will be!) $139/night http://www.gideonputnam.com/ or if you are looking for cheap and downtown accessibility, check out the Springs Motel http://www.springsmotel.com/ $80/night, or an old favorite the saratoga downtowner (indoor pool!) http://www.saratogadowntowner.com

I will post more information as it happens!
